THE CHALLENGE

Limited automation in testing processes hindered the client’s efforts to achieve efficient platform validation and quality assurance. Setting up a seamless scalable test automation framework was too complex and resource-intensive for the company's IT team to do on its own. The customer’s automation test suite was designed for devices under test (DUTs) and included several intermittent steps that had to be performed manually. These manual interventions disrupted the test flow, preventing the client from achieving full automation. As a result, the overall test automation coverage was severely limited, reaching only 10-20%.
The client also faced difficulties with the reusability of its system under test (SUT) for both execution and debugging. Inefficient use of lab space constrained operational flexibility, while the lack of reusability of the same SUT for execution and debugging caused delays.

UST delivered a comprehensive, end-to-end solution (hardware, software, and mechanical design) that transformed the client’s testing processes into a fully automated scalable platform which delivered more reliable test outcomes and enhanced product quality. The highly adaptable platform was designed to allow easy setup and reconfiguration. UST’s solution also addressed the issues of non-standardization and reliability in cable-rework by ensuring that all test setups were standardized and consistent, improving the accuracy and authenticity of test results. The platform’s design allowed for the reusability of the SUT for both execution and debugging, optimizing resource utilization and reducing duplicate setups.
UST took responsibility for end-to-end manufacturing, testing, and deployment across multiple geographical locations. UST developed a UI application that provided the client with an intuitive interface to manage and monitor the testing process making it easier to initiate, control, and review tests without extensive technical expertise. Additionally, UST created a software development kit (SDK) that allowed for further customization and extension of the platform, enabling the client to tailor the testing processes to its specific needs and integrate with existing systems.
The platform included remote test execution capabilities allowing engineers and testers to conduct tests from anywhere and collect various telemetry test data across different labs, enabling centralized monitoring and analysis of test outcomes. This provided deeper insights into performance metrics and system behaviors, providing enhanced visibility to manage and optimize testing processes.
