Point of sale payments processor ensures ADA compliance with automated accessibility testing
OUR CLIENT
Operating in 10 countries, our client is a leading global payments company that provides businesses with the technology needed to accept payments from customers wherever they shop (in stores, at home, or on the go). The client’s platform is unique in that it is common across countries, which makes it easier for businesses to secure their payment systems quickly.
THE CHALLENGE
Cloud migration, time to market, and changing legislation are driving the need to automate accessibility testing
In the middle of migrating to the Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud, the client required its websites and e-commerce products to be American Disabilities Act (ADA)-compliant to support people with disabilities.
The client required automation of accessibility testing so it could adhere to changing legislation quickly, identify issues on time, realize efficiencies, and accelerate release cycles.
THE TRANSFORMATION
A single automated testing solution combined two different testing products
UST Xpanxion designed a proof of concept (POC) and rapid prototype that validated the ability to automate the client’s accessibility testing by integrating two different testing products.
The single automated accessibility testing solution included tight integration of the client’s current Deque accessibility testing tools and axe® DevTools as well as non-automated ADA testing tools with the client’s current Selenium testing framework. It automates website quality assurance (QA) testing but does not support ADA testing.
THE IMPACT
- Designed a POC and rapid prototype to automate the client’s accessibility testing.
- Integrated two separate testing solutions to create a single automated accessibility testing solution.
- Achieved the integration in less than two weeks.
- Enabled automated regression testing and automated smoke testing for accessibility.
