Microsoft ERP system upgraded for global manufacturer including the integration of 30+ third-party applications

This eyewear manufacturer and omnichannel retailer needed to upgrade its existing Microsoft NAV ERP system to a single, global instance of Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations. In just 12 months, UST seamlessly upgraded facilities worldwide and integrated the new solution with more than 30 third-party applications.

OUR CLIENT

This multinational company manufactures and markets prescription eyewear through its e-commerce platform and over 2,000 retail stores. The company employs over 5,000 people who serve approximately 100,000 customers monthly.

THE CHALLENGE

Legacy version of Microsoft ERP system needed an upgrade to Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations

Our client used Microsoft's Dynamics NAV ERP system to support its retail and e-commerce operations, which processed approximately 90,000 daily transactions. However, the IT team needed to upgrade the legacy system to Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations to integrate 30+ third-party applications more efficiently. The company also wanted to use a single ERP platform to support its operations in several countries.

THE TRANSFORMATION

Extensive migration effort took less than a year

The UST systems integration (SI) team migrated the company's legacy Microsoft NAV system to Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations. It also implemented the full suite of finance and supply chain modules in less than 12 months. The project included the migration of 15 million inventory records and two million SKUs as well. Because the upgraded ERP system would support operations in many different countries, the team implemented global templates for commonly used documents with country-specific localizations to help standardize and streamline processes. The UST SI team seamlessly integrated the Dynamics 365 ERP platform with more than 30 separate business applications to complete the work effort.

THE IMPACT

Successful ERP upgrade project touched operations in four countries

The expansive, global migration project included systems and data in these countries and facilities:

With this phase of the project complete, the company plans to expand the Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations implementation to facilities in Indonesia, Japan, and Canada, as well as additional legal entities.
