Case Study
Finacle FEBA implementation enables zero-escalation digital banking deployment for PKGB and KGB
OUR CLIENT
Regional rural banks expanding digital banking access across India
Pragathi Krishna Gramin Bank (PKGB) and the former Kaveri Grameena Bank (KGB) are regional rural banks sponsored and operated under Canara Bank. These institutions serve large rural and semi-urban populations, providing essential banking services across multiple districts.
As part of India’s regional rural banking network, these institutions support retail banking, agricultural lending, and small-business financing while providing essential banking infrastructure across their service areas.
THE CHALLENGE
Deploying a new digital banking solution across two banks
Pragathi Krishna Gramin Bank (PKGB) and Kaveri Grameena Bank (KGB) needed to launch a new digital banking platform to support growing customer demand for online and mobile banking services. However, deploying a new version of the Finacle e-banking architecture introduced technical complexity, operational readiness challenges, and coordination requirements across both banks. Without a structured implementation approach, these factors could delay digital banking rollout or affect platform stability during launch.
Key initiatives included:
- Adoption of a new Finacle E-Banking Architecture (FEBA 11.2.8):
PKGB and KGB planned to deploy a new version of the Finacle e-banking platform, introducing architectural changes that increased implementation complexity and required specialized deployment expertise - Implementation risk from a newly introduced platform version:
In the new FEBA release, the platform encountered multiple technical issues during deployment, posing a risk to a stable digital banking rollout. - Limited internal familiarity with FEBA functionality:
Bank teams were not fully aware of FEBA’s functional capabilities, creating a capability gap that could affect user adoption and operational readiness. - Requirement for banking portal customization:
The digital banking interface required UI customization to align with the bank’s operational workflows and customer experience requirements. - Coordinating implementation across two banks:
The project required managing a Finacle FEBA implementation for both PKGB and KGB simultaneously, increasing delivery and coordination complexity. - Managing a phased go-live approach:
The rollout had to be executed in phases, requiring careful coordination across environments, testing cycles, and deployment timelines to ensure stability.
Without structured implementation and enablement, these factors could delay the deployment of the digital banking system and affect the stability of the online banking rollout.
THE TRANSFORMATION
Structured Finacle FEBA implementation with customization, testing, and phased deployment
- We partnered with a large system integrator to deliver the Finacle FEBA implementation and customization for PKGB and KGB. The engagement focused on enabling a controlled digital banking rollout while preparing internal teams to operate and manage the platform independently.
- Operational alignment and deployment planning: Conducted DRG workshops and GAP analysis to identify customization requirements and align the Finacle e-banking platform implementation with the banks’ operational needs and customer experience.
- Established resilient infrastructure for secure digital banking operations: Installed and configured the Finacle FEBA 11.2.8 environment across both primary and disaster recovery data centers, establishing a resilient infrastructure capable of supporting secure and continuous digital banking services.
- Preparing internal teams to operate the platform: Delivered user training and product walkthroughs to enable internal teams that were initially unfamiliar with FEBA functionality. Managed SIT and UAT testing cycles, coordinated pilot testing, and supported phased go-live across both banks.
- Reducing deployment risk through security validation: Managed DC-DR run validation and provided Finacle FEBA go-live support to ensure operational stability during deployment.
THE IMPACT
Stable digital banking deployment with trained teams and operational continuity
- The structured Finacle FEBA implementation enabled both banks to launch their digital banking platform while addressing the technical and operational challenges introduced by the new architecture.
- Stable platform deployment: Structured testing, VAPT validation, and phased go-live resulted in zero escalations reported by the bank.
- Reliable digital banking services: Seamless support for the Finacle e-banking platform ensured stable digital banking operations for customers following deployment.
- Scalable foundation for digital banking growth: The Finacle digital banking platform implementation established a structured foundation for supporting digital banking services across both banks.
- Internal capability to operate the platform:User training and product walkthroughs enabled internal teams to effectively operate and manage the FEBA digital banking solution.
