End-to-end automation drives business velocity for leading worldwide apparel company
Our client is a Fortune 500 consumer goods retailer that specializes in basic innerwear and activewear apparel. They employ more than 60,000 people in 40+ countries and bring in annual revenues in excess of $6 billion.
Legacy data center creates barrier to better business velocity
At the time of engagement with UST, our client was unable to reach their desired business velocity using their on-premise data center. The company did have an AI data tool, Power BI, in place, but in order to leverage it strategically, data needed to move to the cloud. At the same time, internal data engineering and DevOps expertise were lacking, making it difficult to find a way to successfully extract and transform the data. As a result, our client was unable to reach one of their primary goals: to visualize business growth metrics on an ongoing basis (i.e. quarterly) using data analytics.
New tools and technologies drive automation
UST partnered with the client to construct an architecture that streamlined data flow between the on-premise data center and the cloud. Improved code workflows were defined and end-to- end automation was implemented using Azure DevOps and Azure Cloud. The data flow design was unique, utilizing new and niche products and technologies like Databricks and Azure Analysis Services.
UST also collaborated with the client to sort out any undefined processes. CICD pipelines were constructed and infrastructure scripts created so that end-to-end automation could be implemented. UST provided training on agile DevOps best practices and new technologies so that the client’s internal teams are able to confidently handle similar initiatives in the future.
DevOps enhances business velocity and overall agility
Our client has seen significant business velocity impacts, including a 75% improvement in automation, a 50% reduction in code validation wait time, and an enhanced focus on DevOps practices. Today, our client can visualize statistical data and make use of automation tools to easily develop code and it to production with just a few clicks. Internal teams now have the skill sets and training to practice DevOps to enhance overall organizational agility in the future.
